Edgewood Surgical Hospital is seeking an X-Ray Technician to join our dynamic team. The X-Ray Technician is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and compliance with radiation safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff in a fast-paced surgical environment.

X-Ray Technician Job Summary:
  • Prepare radiographic equipment and imaging supplies for scheduled procedures. 
  • Perform postoperative imaging examinations as ordered by physicians.
  • Position patients appropriately to obtain accurate imaging. 
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort before, during, and after imaging procedures.
  • Operate digital radiography equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Follow radiation safety protocols and utilize appropriate shielding techniques. 
  • Verify patient identity and imaging orders prior to procedures.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and clinical staff during surgical and pain management procedures. 
  • Document imaging procedures and maintain accurate records. 
  • Assist with C-arm fluoroscopy during orthopedic and pain management procedures. 
  • Monitor equipment functionality and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Provide patients and families with clear instructions regarding imaging procedures.

X-Ray Technician Qualifications & Skills:
  • Graduate of an accredited X-Ray Technician program
  • Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Pennsylvania state licensure
  • Experience in surgical, orthopedic, pain management, or outpatient imaging preferred
  • Knowledge of radiation protection and safety standards
  • Experience operating C- arm with fluoroscopy equipment preferred
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
